23-year-old winger Gevorg Diarbian made his debut for MLS club New England Revolution's first team in the US Open Cup.
In the Round of 32 match against Rhode Island, Diarbian came on in the 87th minute and played a key role in the winning goal. His low cross hit the post before a teammate slotted it into the net. The Revolution won the match 2–1 and advanced to the Round of 16, where they will face the Chicago Fire.
Diarbian plays for the club’s second team in the MLS Next Pro league, where he has scored one goal and provided one assist in 7 appearances this season.
Another Armenian player on the team, goalkeeper Donovan Parizian, was named in the squad for the match but did not come off the bench.
