Today, April 8, the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals will take place in Munich: Bayern Munich (Germany) vs Inter Milan (Italy).
According to the projected lineups by Gazzetta dello Sport, Henrikh Mkhitaryan is expected to start the match. Usually, Piotr Zieliński is part of the starting eleven in Champions League games, but the Polish midfielder is injured and will likely be replaced by the Armenian. Davide Frattesi is another option, but the Italian outlet favors Mkhitaryan, taking into account his excellent recent form. It’s worth noting that the Armenian midfielder recently turned 36 years old.
Mkhitaryan has already played 12 times against Bayern: 10 matches with Borussia Dortmund and 2 with Inter during the group stage of the 2022/23 UCL season. His teams have won 3 times and drawn once against Bayern. Henrikh has scored two goals and provided one assist against the Munich club. Both of his goals came in Dortmund’s wins over Bayern.
Probable lineups according to GDS:
Both Bayern and Inter face significant squad issues. For the home side, Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Dayot Upamecano, Kingsley Coman, and Manuel Neuer will miss the game. For Inter, Mehdi Taremi, Denzel Dumfries, Piotr Zieliński, and possibly Federico Dimarco are out due to injuries. Kristjan Asllani is also suspended and won’t take part.
Kick-off is at 22:00 Moscow time / 23:00 Yerevan time.
In Armenia, the match will be broadcast on Fast Sports TV, while in Russia it will be available via OKKO TV online streaming.
