Gegard Mousasi (49-9-2) will face Yoel Romero (16-7) on June 22 in New York. The fight will take place in the middleweight (84 kg) division of the new GFL league.
Both fighters previously competed in the UFC and later in Bellator. Yoel Romero’s last fights were under boxing rules with MMA gloves.
Mousasi is 39 years old, while his opponent is eight years older.
Both athletes have completed their contracts with Bellator (now PFL) and signed agreements with GFL (Global Fighting League).
So far, this league has not hosted any events, so it is difficult to determine its organizational level or whether it will operate in full format. All that remains is to follow the developments and wait for the first tournaments.
It should be noted that GFL features a playoff format with team matchups.
