22-year-old Armenian weightlifter Garnik Cholakyan claimed a bronze medal at the 2025 European Championships, currently taking place in Chișinău. This is his first medal at the senior level.
In the 61 kg weight category, Cholakyan showed an excellent result in the snatch — 124 kg, earning him a small silver medal. In the clean and jerk, he placed fourth with 151 kg. His total was 275 kg, finishing behind only Ivan Dimov of Bulgaria (289 kg) and Goderdzi Berdelidze of Georgia (276 kg).
