Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi placed in induced coma after injury

Nottingham Forest’s Nigerian forward Taiwo Awoniyi has been placed in an induced coma following a serious injury sustained during the Premier League clash against Leicester on May 11, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
The 27-year-old collided with the goalpost in the second half and received medical attention on the field for several minutes. Despite the incident, he returned to the game, but the true extent of his injury was revealed the next day. He had suffered abdominal trauma that required emergency surgery.
Awoniyi underwent an operation on Monday evening. According to the club, he is recovering well, but doctors have placed him in an induced coma to limit movement and stabilize his heart rate.
Despite the severity of the situation, his condition is not considered life-threatening. The club expressed its full support for the player and thanked fans for their messages of concern and encouragement.
