Finn Geragousian scores and helps Sunderland U18 reach FA Youth Cup Round of 16 (VIDEO)

Sunderland U18 advanced to the fifth round (Round of 16) of the FA Youth Cup after a dramatic clash against West Bromwich U18 — 3:3 (4:3 on penalties).

One of the key figures of the match was Armenia youth international forward Finn Geragousian. In the 7th minute, he opened the scoring with a brilliant strike into the top-left corner after beating defenders inside the box. Sunderland soon doubled their lead, but the game completely turned after the break.

In the second half, “the Black Cats” captain Finley Holcroft received his second yellow card, leaving the hosts with ten men. West Brom took advantage of the extra player: Rio Parmar converted a penalty, and in stoppage time Justin Seven-Seven equalized — 2:2.

In extra time, Geragousian was again at the heart of the action. After his shot was parried by the goalkeeper, the ball fell straight to Tricianno Wilson, who tapped it in to put Sunderland back in front — 3:2.

However, later the Armenian forward fouled Remare McNeil inside his own box, received a second yellow card, and was sent off. Parmar confidently converted another penalty — 3:3.

The match was decided in the penalty shootout, where goalkeeper Joe Cowen became the hero by saving two attempts. The decisive spot-kick was scored by Wilson, sealing Sunderland’s 4:3 shootout victory.

In the Round of 16, Sunderland U18 will play at home against Brighton U18.
