Armenian Weightlifting Federation discusses national team preparations and new criteria for sports titles

The Armenian Weightlifting Federation held another meeting of its coaching staff under the chairmanship of federation president Arayik Harutyunyan.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the current work of the national teams, preparations for upcoming international competitions, and several strategic initiatives aimed at the further development of weightlifting in Armenia.
The secretary general of the Armenian Weightlifting Federation presented a report on the work carried out. Afterwards, the head coaches and senior coaches of the national teams reported on the preparation process for the European Championships, the World Junior Championships, and other upcoming competitions.
Special attention was paid to the World Youth Championships. Armenia’s youth national team will travel to the tournament on July 4. The meeting also addressed the growing involvement of athletes in the youth and junior girls’ and boys’ national teams, as well as steps aimed at improving the effectiveness of coaching work.
One of the key decisions was the intention to develop a unified system for the retraining and certification of weightlifting coaches. Its goal is to ensure the continuous professional development of personal coaches and introduce unified qualification standards.
In addition, the participants discussed programs related to the next stage of the sport’s development in the country. It was decided that from August 1, 2026, new criteria will be introduced for awarding the sports titles “Master of Sport of the Republic of Armenia” and “Master of Sport of the Republic of Armenia of International Class.”
