Two more golds for Japan: Results of Day 5 at the 2025 Judo World Championships

On June 17, the fifth day of the 2025 Judo World Championships took place in Budapest, the capital of Hungary. Medals were contested in the men's -90 kg and women's -70 kg weight categories.
Japanese judokas won both gold medals, bringing their team's total gold count to six. France, Georgia, Russia, and Italy each have one gold medal.
In the women's -70 kg category, 26-year-old Shiho Tanaka became world champion. This is the first world title of her career. In the final, Tanaka defeated Croatia’s Lara Cvjetko with a yuko score.
The men's -90 kg final featured an all-Japanese showdown between 27-year-old Goki Tajima and 24-year-old Sanshiro Murao. The tense match went into golden score, where Murao emerged victorious and claimed his first world championship title.
