Yervand Mkrtchyan wins Balkan Championships gold and sets Armenian record

Armenian athlete Yervand Mkrtchyan won a gold medal at the Balkan Athletics Championships, which took place on June 20-21 in Volos, Greece.

Mkrtchyan claimed victory in the men’s 3000 metres. The Armenian runner completed the distance in 7:52.75, becoming the champion of the event and setting a new Armenian national record.

Another medal for Armenia was won by Razmik Ghazaryan. He took silver in the triple jump with a result of 16.20 metres.

Armenia was also represented at the Balkan Championships by Levon Aghasyan in the triple jump, Vahe Arzumanyan in the long jump, Aram Aramyan in the 400 metres hurdles and Ellada Alaverdyan in the 800 metres.

For Yervand Mkrtchyan, this was not his first successful performance of the current season. Earlier, the Armenian runner won the 1500 metres at an international tournament in France, clocking 3:38.99.

Mkrtchyan continues to perform successfully on the international stage and confirms his status as one of the leaders of Armenian athletics.
