Yerevan Hosts Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament in Memory of Arsen Kotikyan

Yerevan Hosts Greco-Roman Wrestling Tournament in Memory of Arsen Kotikyan
Wrestling 💬 Comment

From September 4 to 5, an international Greco-Roman wrestling tournament dedicated to the memory of Arsen Kotikyan was held in Yerevan. The competition brought together U23 wrestlers from Armenia, Georgia, Iran, Qatar, and Belarus. The tournament had a special status, serving as a qualifying stage for the Armenian national team ahead of the U23 World Championships, scheduled for October 20–27 in Novi Sad, Serbia.

One of the main heroes of the tournament was U20 World Champion Gaspar Terteryan, who won the gold medal in the 72 kg weight category. He is highly likely to represent Armenia at the upcoming U23 World Championships. His brother, Samvel Terteryan, also claimed victory in the 77 kg division, confirming his high level — he had previously won a bronze medal at the U20 European Championships.

In the 130 kg weight class, Razmik Kurdyan won gold. He is already included in Armenia’s national team roster for the Senior World Championships, which will kick off on September 18 in Zagreb.

Belarus was represented in Yerevan by Abubakar Khaslakhanov, a World Cadet Champion and last year’s U23 World silver medalist.
