Armenian footballer Andrew Darakdjian scored a spectacular winning goal in a US college soccer (NCAA) match as his team, Michigan State, defeated Maryland 2-1.
Michigan State, ranked 19th nationally, managed to overcome one of the strongest opponents of the season, seventh-ranked Maryland. The victory was particularly significant for Michigan State, as it marked the team's first win over Maryland since 2018.
Andrew Darakdjian emerged as the hero of the match, scoring his team's second goal, which ultimately proved to be the winner. The Armenian footballer demonstrated outstanding technique, executing a difficult volley to send the ball into the opposition's net.
The goal was Darakdjian's fifth in ten NCAA appearances this season. The Armenian player continues to demonstrate impressive scoring form in American college soccer.
Darakdjian previously represented Armenia's U19 national team, making four appearances and scoring one goal. In addition, he was invited to a training camp with Armenia's U21 national team in 2024.
His impressive performances in the NCAA could once again attract the attention of Armenia's U21 national team coaching staff.
