Elina Avanesyan reaches main draw of WTA tournament in Hamburg

Armenian tennis player Elina Avanesyan (WTA 208) has successfully passed the qualifying stage of the WTA tournament in Hamburg and advanced to the main draw.
In the final qualifying round, Avanesyan defeated 40-year-old Varvara Lepchenko (WTA 175) in a three-set battle. The match ended 4-6, 7-6 (7-5), 6-3 in favor of the Armenian player.
Earlier, Elina also defeated Dalila Jakupovic 4-2 after her opponent was forced to retire due to injury.
In the first round of the main draw, Avanesyan will face Dutch player Arantxa Rus (WTA 187).
Another Armenian tennis player, Alina Charaeva (WTA 117), will also compete in the main draw. Her opening opponent will be Spain’s Sara Sorribes Tormo (WTA 212).
Previously, both Armenian players finished their campaigns in the second round of the WTA tournament in Iasi.
