Armenian tennis players Elina Avanesyan and Alina Charaeva, who represent the country at international tournaments, will be in Yerevan from September 4 to 9. Their visit will include a number of public and special events, including masterclasses, while a press conference featuring both athletes will take place on September 7.
The visit is organized with the support of the Keron Development Foundation and the Tennis Federation of Armenia. It aims to promote interest in tennis and sports in Armenia, inspire young athletes, and strengthen the players’ connection with the Armenian public.
According to the organizers, the visit by Avanesyan and Charaeva is a significant event for Armenian sports, marking the first time that two highly ranked international tennis players representing Armenia are in the country at the same time.
Elina Avanesyan, a participant in the Keron Development Foundation’s Talent Fund program, has been competing under the Armenian flag for the past two years. This year, she joined the Armenian women’s national team for the first time and competed in the Billie Jean King Cup. With Avanesyan on the team, Armenia achieved a historic result, earning promotion to Group II after a 16-year absence.
Alina Charaeva began a new chapter of her tennis career with Armenia this summer. In July, with the support of the Keron Development Foundation and the Tennis Federation of Armenia, she received Armenian citizenship and has since begun representing Armenia at international tournaments.
During the press conference on September 7, the athletes and organizers will present the goals of the visit and the events planned as part of the program. They will also discuss Armenia’s representation in international tennis, Avanesyan’s and Charaeva’s paths to professional sport, their experiences, challenges and upcoming goals.
The players’ program in Armenia will also include events aimed at promoting tennis among children and young people and encouraging greater interest in professional sports.
