Elida Kocharyan wins Armenia’s first medal at the European Boxing Championships

Armenian boxer Elida Kocharyan, competing in the 65 kg weight category, secured Armenia’s first medal at the 2026 European Championships in Sofia.
In the quarterfinals, Kocharyan claimed an early victory over Romania’s Andra Nicoleta, with the bout stopped in the second round.
It was the Armenian boxer’s third victory of the tournament and her second inside the distance. Kocharyan had previously defeated opponents from Spain and Albania.
By reaching the semifinals, the Armenian representative guaranteed herself at least a bronze medal. Kocharyan will face Russia’s Azalia Amineva for a place in the final. The semifinal bout will take place on September 23.
Two more Armenian boxers, Davit Chaloyan and Rudolf Garboyan, will also compete in the European Championship quarterfinals today.
