Southampton head coach Will Still has confirmed that Krasnodar and Armenia national team captain Eduard Spertsyan is on the club’s radar, but refrained from giving further details about a potential transfer.
In an interview with the Daily Echo, the 32-year-old coach stressed that he prefers not to discuss players belonging to other clubs and approaches transfer matters with maximum restraint.
“It’s the same as with Rudoni last week. We have a large list of players we are scouting, and Eduard is part of that list. He is a good footballer with proven quality, and we are always interested in strong players. But that’s all I can say,” Still stated.
The 25-year-old Spertsyan confirmed on Match TV the day before that Southampton had made an offer for his transfer. According to journalist Ivan Karpov, the offer is worth around €12 million. The midfielder will make his final decision after speaking with Krasnodar president Sergey Galitskiy.
“It’s too early to talk about a move, but everything is serious — there is a concrete offer. Now I will return to Krasnodar, talk to the president, and together we will decide the next steps,” Spertsyan said.
The player’s contract with the Russian club runs until the summer of 2026, and Transfermarkt values him at €25 million.
Alongside Spertsyan, Southampton are also interested in Coventry midfielder Jack Rudoni. Strengthening the creative line in midfield remains a priority for the team.
At the same time, the club is working on potential departures: Joe Aribo, who has one year left on his contract, may leave, as could Sam Edozie, who has already received offers, including from Strasbourg and Club Brugge.
Still also revealed that he plans to sign a third experienced goalkeeper to rotate with Gavin Bazunu and Alex McCarthy. Currently, the backup role is filled by 17-year-old Dylan Moody, who plays for the youth team.
In the new season, Southampton returned to the Championship after relegation from the Premier League and started it with a victory, remaining active in the transfer market until the closure of the summer window.
