Armenian UFC middleweight Edmen Shahbazyan (16-5) earned an impressive win over Brazilian André Muniz (24-8), finishing the bout via technical knockout in the first round. The fight took place at UFC 320 in Las Vegas on the night of October 4–5.
From the start, Muniz tried to take the fight to the ground, but Shahbazyan defended skillfully and even landed a takedown of his own — a rare move in his arsenal. On the feet, Edmen looked far superior, repeatedly punishing his opponent with precise left-hand strikes. One of those punches late in the round seriously hurt Muniz, prompting Shahbazyan to go for the finish. The referee stepped in and stopped the fight just four seconds before the end of the first round, awarding the Armenian a technical knockout victory.

This win marks the third straight for the 27-year-old Shahbazyan and brings him closer to re-entering the UFC middleweight top 15. Shahbazyan now holds a record of 9 wins and 5 losses in the UFC. Despite his relatively young age, he is already seen as a league veteran and continues to build his path toward another rise in the rankings after an impressive career start.
