Two Armenian weightlifters to compete today at the European Junior Championships in Albania

Today, October 31, at the 2025 European Junior Weightlifting Championships taking place in Durrës, Albania, two Armenian athletes — Martin Poghosyan and Narek Mkrtchyan — will represent Armenia. Both athletes are competing in the 79 kg (U20) weight category.

19-year-old Narek Mkrtchyan and 20-year-old Martin Poghosyan are among the favorites of the competition. According to the start list, Mkrtchyan and Azerbaijani Ravin Almammadov have declared the highest total of 340 kg, while Poghosyan and Ukrainian Yaroslav Ponomarenko have each declared 335 kg.

The competition starts at 16:00 Yerevan time.
