Two Armenian Grandmasters Advance to the Fourth Round of the FIDE World Cup 2025

Two Armenian chess players have successfully passed the third round of the FIDE World Cup 2025 and will continue competing among the strongest.
Grandmaster Shant Sargsyan confidently defeated Turkey’s Mustafa Yilmaz with a score of 1.5:0.5, demonstrating solid positional play and precise endgame technique. Gabriel Sargissian achieved the same result, overcoming Indian grandmaster Diptayan Ghosh 1.5:0.5.
Thus, both players continue to represent Armenia in the elite stage of the tournament, further strengthening the prestige of the Armenian chess school on the world stage. The fourth round will begin on November 11, and Armenian fans are eagerly awaiting new strong performances.
Meanwhile, Robert Hovhannisyan concluded his participation after losing 0.5:1.5 to Indian chess prodigy Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa.
It is also worth noting that Levon Aronian and Sam Sevian, competing under the US flag, have also advanced to the next stage.
