State Duma deputy Teryushkov stands up for Spertsyan: “I express my support to Spertsyan and his family”

Roman Teryushkov, a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, made a statement in support of FC Krasnodar captain and Armenia national team leader Eduard Spertsyan, who has been accused of making a racist remark toward FC Akhmat defender Ousmane Ndong.

In an interview with Sportaran.com, the politician called the accusations against Spertsyan baseless and expressed confidence that the controversy surrounding the player was artificially created.

“Sporting tolerance and hyper-political correctness have defeated the common sense of some respected people. Instead of a detailed analysis of the reasons for a sports defeat and tactical mistakes, a legionnaire named Ndong from distant Senegal decided to pit the management of our FC Akhmat against our FC Krasnodar. For Ndong, every problem has one answer — racism. And how else could one cheat and justify insulting the woman who gave birth to the star of FC Krasnodar, the hope of Russian football — Eduard Spertsyan? Only through BLM narratives, which were so actively promoted by the former US administration.

But in Russia, it’s one for all and all for one. And in this case, everyone stands with Eduard, who was born in Stavropol. Because he is genuine and sincere. And Ndong — got the red card.

I know Eduard as a decent, intelligent young man and a true professional. I spoke with him in detail about what happened. I am convinced that the false accusations against him will backfire on those who launched this slanderous campaign. I express full support for Eduard and his family. I call on FC Akhmat to carefully review the circumstances and withdraw the complaint. The issue must be resolved on the football field. Otherwise, we will have to deal with the meaning of Portuguese insults directed at the most sacred person for every man — his mother,” Teryushkov said.

Let us remind that the conflict between the players occurred during the 11th round RPL match between Krasnodar and Akhmat. In the 85th minute, Ousmane Ndong received a straight red card for hitting Spertsyan. After the match, the Senegalese defender accused the Krasnodar midfielder of racism, but Spertsyan categorically denied the allegations, stating that Ndong was the one who started the verbal confrontation.

The case is currently being reviewed by the Russian Football Union’s Disciplinary Committee. A decision is expected in the coming days.
