Armenian-Argentine football club Deportivo Armenio from Buenos Aires completed their season just one step short of promotion to Argentina’s second division. Representing the Armenian community of Ingeniero Maschwitz, the team reached the Primera B playoff final but fell at the final hurdle in the promotion battle.
The season proved to be a mixed one for Deportivo Armenio. In the Apertura tournament, the club finished only 16th, but showed significant improvement in the Clausura, ending the second stage of the season in an impressive fourth place. In the overall standings (Tabla Anual), Armenio also finished fourth, securing a place in the playoffs, where a single promotion spot was at stake.
In the knockout rounds, Deportivo Armenio defeated Sportivo Italiano (2–1) and Argentino de Merlo (2–1). In the final series, the Armenian club faced Acassuso but lost on aggregate, drawing 1–1 and losing 0–1, ultimately finishing the season as playoff runners-up.
In addition to their strong league performance, the team also impressed in the Copa Argentina. In the Round of 32, Deportivo Armenio caused a major upset by eliminating top-flight side Talleres de Córdoba with a 4–3 victory. Their cup run ended in the Round of 16, where they narrowly lost 2–3 to another Primera División club, Deportivo Riestra, after a hard-fought match.
Despite missing out on promotion, the season can be considered one of the most successful for Deportivo Armenio in recent years, highlighting the club’s steady progress and growing ambitions for the future.
