U17 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships in Athens: Results of the First Day

From August 1 to 3, the U17 World Wrestling Championships are being held in Athens, Greece. On the first day of freestyle wrestling competitions, finalists were determined in five weight categories: 48, 55, 65, 80 and 110 kg.
Among the Armenian athletes, only Laert Movsisyan (110 kg) continues the competition. He will compete tomorrow in the repechage for the bronze medal. The other four representatives of Armenia have lost their chances for medals: David Baleyan (48 kg), Armen Papikyan (55 kg), Avet Boymushakyan (65 kg) and Vache Aslanyan (80 kg).
In the finals, there will be two wrestlers each from the USA and Iran, as well as one athlete from Russia, Japan, India, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.

It is worth noting Arseniy Kikiniou (USA), who just a few days ago won bronze at the U17 Greco-Roman World Championships and has now reached the freestyle final. His only loss in Athens came against the Armenian wrestler Janes Nazaryan.
