2026 U20 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships: Full Tournament Results

The 2026 U20 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships concluded on August 23 in Bratislava, Slovakia. As a year earlier, Team USA won the overall team standings. The American wrestlers claimed four gold medals and scored 205 points.
Russia finished second in the team standings with two world champions and 155 points. Iran also won two gold medals. Japan and Georgia each produced one U20 world champion in Bratislava.
Team Armenia finished the freestyle wrestling competition with one bronze medal. The team’s only medalist was Davit Davtyan, who competed in the 70 kg weight category.
Davit Davtyan Wins U20 World Bronze for Armenia
Davit Davtyan claimed a bronze medal at the U20 World Championships in dramatic fashion and became Armenia’s only representative to reach the podium in the freestyle wrestling competition.
In terms of the number of medals won, Team Armenia matched last year’s result — one bronze medal. However, Armenia scored fewer points in the team standings: 27 compared to 35 in 2025.
Earlier, Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers won four medals at the U20 World Championships.

2026 U20 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships Team Standings
Team USA comfortably finished first in the team standings with 205 points. Russia took second place, while Japan rounded out the top three.

Thus, the United States won the U20 Freestyle Wrestling World Championships team title for the second consecutive year. Team USA was also the most successful nation in terms of gold medals, winning four titles. Russia and Iran claimed two gold medals each, while Japan and Georgia won one apiece.
For Team Armenia, the tournament ended with one bronze medal, won by Davit Davtyan in the 70 kg weight category.
