World U17 Freestyle Wrestling Championships 2025 in Athens: Day 2 Results and Finalists

On August 2, 2025, the second competition day of the U17 World Freestyle Wrestling Championships concluded in Athens. Medals were awarded in five weight categories (48, 55, 65, 80, and 110 kg), and finalists were determined in the 45, 51, 60, 71, and 92 kg divisions.

Five more wrestlers from the Armenian national team competed in Greece, but only one managed to reach the semifinal stage. Yegishe Mosesyan (71 kg) lost a close match to an American and will fight for bronze tomorrow.

On August 3, the final bouts in the remaining weight categories of the U17 World Freestyle Wrestling Championships will take place. The matches start at 18:00 Moscow time.

  • 45 kg: Keegan Bassett (USA) — Parsa Tahmasbi (Iran)

  • 51 kg: Samuel Sanchez (USA) — Ulugbek Rashidov (Uzbekistan)

  • 60 kg: Rihito Hiura (Japan) — Sitender Sitender (India)

  • 71 kg: Jayden James (USA) — Arsham Vahabian (Iran)

  • 92 kg: Amirali Alizaden (Iran) — David Dzebisov (Russia)


Key outcomes of the second day

  • Team USA dominated the lighter weight categories, winning gold in 48 kg and 55 kg.

  • Russia stood out with Magomedrasul Omarov's victory in the 110 kg category and several bronze medals.

  • Uzbekistan, Iran, Azerbaijan, and Ukraine also achieved strong results, winning medals of all types.

  • In the team standings, Iran currently leads — without gold medals, but with 2 silver and 2 bronze. USA is in second place.

Tomorrow, Iran and the USA each have three finalists, and their results will determine the team champion.

American wrestler Arseniy Kikinio (65 kg) won his second medal in Greece. He also competed in the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament, where he took third place, and in freestyle wrestling, he finished second.
