Czech Republic and Armenia to Hold Friendly Hockey Match as Part of Bilateral Cooperation
Hockey

Today, March 4, a landmark meeting took place at the office of the Armenian Hockey League (AHL), which could mark a significant step in the development of hockey in Armenia. Petr Pirunčik, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Armenia, Vagram Sargsyan, President of the Armenian Hockey Federation, and Petr Lebedev, President of the Armenian Hockey League, discussed prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of hockey.

Key Topics of the Meeting
The agenda included the development of hockey infrastructure in Armenia, preparations for the upcoming friendly match between the national teams of Armenia and the Czech Republic, and expectations for the World Championship of Division IV, which will take place from April 13 to 19 in Yerevan.

The Czech Republic, as one of the world's leading hockey powers, expressed its readiness to support Armenia in the development of this sport. Ambassador Petr Pirunčik emphasized that hockey is not just a sport but also a powerful tool for strengthening international relations.

Friendly Match in Gyumri
One of the key events discussed at the meeting was the upcoming friendly match between the national teams of Armenia and the Czech Republic. The match will take place on March 8 at 17:30 in the Park of Friendship in Gyumri. It is here, thanks to the support of the Czech Republic, that a modern outdoor hockey rink has been built, which has already become a hub for hockey enthusiasts in the region.

The Czech national team will include veterans and amateurs.

This match will not only be a sporting event but also a cultural celebration. The event aims to promote hockey in Armenia, especially among young people, and to strengthen friendly ties between the two countries.

Event Program
On March 8, the Park of Friendship will host a packed program:

  • A speech by Czech Ambassador Petr Pirunčik and a representative of the Czech Hockey Union, who will discuss the importance of hockey development and bilateral cooperation.

  • Demonstrations by students of the Gyumri sports school, showcasing their skills on the ice.

  • A tasting of Czech beer and national dishes from both countries. This is a great opportunity to explore the cultural traditions of Armenia and the Czech Republic.

The tournament will feature five national teams: Armenia, Iran, Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Uzbekistan.
