Football

Brazil and Japan have announced their starting lineups for the Round of 32 match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The game will take place in Houston.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti has decided not to make any changes compared to the team that started the 3-0 win over Scotland, a result that secured Brazil first place in Group C.

Brazil will start with Alisson, Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Douglas Santos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Lucas Paquetá, Rayan, Matheus Cunha and Vinícius Júnior.

Japan have one important absence, as Takefusa Kubo will miss the match due to injury. Otherwise, the lineup is largely as expected, although head coach Hajime Moriyasu has made four changes compared to the 1-1 group-stage draw against Sweden.

Defenders Shogo Taniguchi and Takehiro Tomiyasu, midfielder Kaishu Sano and winger Junya Ito have all been included in Japan’s starting XI.

Brazil: Alisson, Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhães, Douglas Santos, Casemiro, Bruno Guimarães, Lucas Paquetá, Rayan, Matheus Cunha, Vinícius Júnior.

Japan: Zion Suzuki, Shogo Taniguchi, Ritsu Doan, Daizen Maeda, Keito Nakamura, Junya Ito, Daichi Kamada, Ayase Ueda, Hiroki Ito, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Kaishu Sano.
