Azat Hovhannisyan (22-6) has signed a contract with Zuffa Boxing and became the first Armenian boxer to join the league of UFC president Dana White.
Zuffa Boxing officially announced the names of more than 50 fighters who have signed agreements with the promotion. Among them is the 37-year-old Hovhannisyan, who has received a new opportunity to make a statement on the international stage.
In his most recent bout, Azat secured an impressive victory over promising Kazakh prospect Aidos Medet (13-1), once again drawing the attention of promoters and fans.
It is worth recalling that his fight against Luis Nery was named the Fight of the Year in 2023. Hovhannisyan lost that thrilling contest and then suffered two more defeats. However, the experienced Armenian boxer managed to end his losing streak with a confident and spectacular victory over Medet.
It is likely that Azat’s entertaining and uncompromising fighting style caught the attention of Dana White.
The 4th Zuffa Boxing event will take place on March 8. The full fight card and participants of the upcoming boxing night are expected to be announced soon.
