Azat Hovhannisyan sensationally defeated the unbeaten Aidos Medet in the USA

Armenian boxer Azat Hovhannisyan (22–6) claimed an important victory over previously unbeaten Kazakh fighter Aidos Medet (14–1) at a boxing event held in Long Beach, USA.

The bout went the full eight rounds and ended in a unanimous decision in favor of Hovhannisyan. Before the fight, the Armenian athlete was considered the underdog, but he managed to impose his pace and looked more convincing for most of the contest.

This victory is of special importance for the 37-year-old Hovhannisyan, as he snapped a three-fight losing streak and returned to the winning track. Meanwhile, Medet suffered the first defeat of his professional career.

A successful performance in the United States could become an important step in continuing the Armenian boxer’s career on the international stage.
