Avshar Ararat beat Kilikia in opening match of the 2026/27 Armenian Cup

The 2026/27 Armenian Cup has kicked off. In the first match of the preliminary round, Avshar Ararat defeated Kilikia, the reigning champions of the amateur League A. The match in Charentsavan ended 4-2.

Kilikia made the better start. Rafael Movsisyan put his team ahead as early as the 9th minute. Ten minutes later, John Lagbel equalized, but in the 31st minute Movsisyan completed his brace to restore Kilikia’s lead.

After the break, Avshar Ararat managed to turn the game around. Lagbel scored his second goal in the 63rd minute, while Edgar Gulinyan put his team ahead for the first time in the 73rd. Khaliya Khagagi Khalil Elnubi sealed the final score in stoppage time — 4-2.

Thus, Avshar Ararat successfully advanced from the preliminary round of the Armenian Cup.

Another match at this stage of the competition will take place on August 25. Andranik will face Etchmiadzin in Charentsavan.
