Paris Saint-Germain has officially confirmed that defender Achraf Hakimi sustained an ankle syndesmosis injury during the UEFA Champions League league stage match against Bayern Munich. The Moroccan international was forced to leave the pitch following a rough challenge by winger Luis Díaz.
According to insider Fabrizio Romano, the recovery process for the 27-year-old could take between six and eight weeks. As a result, Hakimi is expected to miss several upcoming fixtures for PSG in both domestic competitions and European matches.
This injury also casts doubt on Hakimi’s participation in the Africa Cup of Nations, which will be hosted in Morocco from December 21 to January 18. Losing one of the team's key defenders would be a significant setback for the tournament hosts.
PSG’s medical team continues to monitor Hakimi’s condition and will reassess his availability as his rehabilitation progresses.
