Harutyunyan scores first Armenia goal as hosts lead Latvia at half-time

Armenia ended the first half of their home Nations League match against Latvia 1–0 ahead. Georgi Harutyunyan scored the only goal in the 31st minute, heading in Eduard Spertsyan’s corner. It was the defender’s first goal for the national team.
Armenia controlled the opening half. By the break, the hosts had taken nine shots to Latvia’s two and won six corners to their opponents’ one. Their advantage has so far produced one goal, from a set piece.
Harutyunyan is enjoying a productive spell: this was his third goal of the season. The defender began his football career as a striker.
