Artur Serobyan ahead of Shamrock Rovers match: “We will play even better with the fans’ support”

Ararat-Armenia forward Artur Serobyan spoke about the atmosphere within the team, the players’ physical condition and their preparations for the match against Irish side Shamrock Rovers in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. The player also called on supporters to come to the stadium and back the team.

The first leg between Ararat-Armenia and Shamrock Rovers will take place on July 21 at the Vazgen Sargsyan Republican Stadium in Yerevan.

— How would you assess the atmosphere within the team and the players’ physical condition?

— The atmosphere in the team is excellent because we have already played two matches and achieved a positive result. We are now preparing for the next game. We want to win again and advance to the next round.

— In the first round, you also played the opening leg at home and won. How important is it that the first match will once again take place in Yerevan?

— I do not think it makes a major difference because the tie consists of two matches. Of course, we will have an advantage at home thanks to the support of our fans. In any case, we will be aiming only for victory in both matches.

— How similar are Shamrock Rovers to Riga, and what is your opinion of the Irish team?

— There are certain similarities. Both teams are very well prepared physically. Riga were strong in that area, while Irish teams have always been known for their physical conditioning.

We have analysed our opponents thoroughly and are fully prepared to produce a good performance.

— How would you assess your own current form?

— I think that question would be better directed to the coach. I do not like assessing my own performances. However, since we defeated Riga, it means the entire team played well, and I am part of the team.

— What message would you like to give the supporters?

— I encourage our fans to come to the stadium and support the team. We believe in our abilities, and with the fans and their support, we will play even better and will be able to achieve a positive result.
