The representative of the Russian national team in the weight category up to 97 kg, Artur Sargsyan, reached the final of the World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship. In the semifinal meeting, Artur beat Azerbaijani Murad Akhmadiyev in a calm manner with a score of 1:1. According to the new rules, if the opponent is the first to be punished for passivity, you have an advantage; in this case, the advantage for the last point brought Sargsyan victory. The main disadvantage after this fight was the departure of Artur Aleksanyan, as his opponent, the Azerbaijani, did not reach the finals.
In total, Arthur had four fights with a total score of 12:3. In three of the four fights, he acted according to a defensive strategy: he scored first for the opponent's passivity, gained an advantage, and defended confidently the rest of the time. It was obvious that he was doing it well.
Other representatives of Armenia, Hrachya Poghosyan (60 kg) and Gor Khachatryan (72 kg), got a chance to compete in the consolation block.
Let's put Artur Sargsyan in the final:
