Armenia national team striker and Israeli club Bnei Sakhnin forward Arthur Miranyan has left Israel amid the escalation of the military situation and is now in Yerevan. The footballer himself confirmed this in a conversation with Sportmedia.am.
According to Miranyan, foreign players were evacuated from the country several days ago. The footballers traveled by car to the Egyptian border, crossed it, and temporarily stayed there.
“About two days ago the legionnaires were taken out of the country. We drove for about 6–7 hours by car to the Egyptian border and then entered Egypt. After spending one day there, I flew to Yerevan,” Miranyan said.
The player noted that the situation in Israel had been extremely tense. According to him, air-raid alarms sounded every day, and on the first day of the conflict he woke up because of the sirens.
“The situation was completely military. Every day there were alarm signals. On the first day of the war I woke up because of the sirens. The heaviest bombings were in the city of Haifa, and the sounds of explosions could even be heard in our city,” he said.
Miranyan added that it was dangerous to remain in the country and expressed hope that the situation would stabilize soon so he could return and continue his normal life and career.
Earlier, due to the escalation of the conflict and the declaration of a state of emergency in Israel, all matches of the national football championship were postponed.
