Renowned Armenian wrestler and London Olympic silver medalist Arsen Julfalakyan has once again been elected as the head of the United World Wrestling (UWW) Athletes’ Commission. He was re-elected for a second term, which will run from 2025 to 2029.
The elections took place during the World Championships in Zagreb, where athletes selected the nine-member commission, including representatives from Japan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Greece, Egypt, Australia, and South Africa. Julfalakyan was the sole candidate for the chair position, which secured his automatic re-election.
During his new term, he will continue to represent the interests of wrestlers within the UWW Bureau and Congress, as well as at the IOC, WADA, and other international organizations.
“I am deeply grateful to the community for their trust and for the opportunity to once again be the voice of wrestlers on the global stage. I will do everything to ensure that athletes feel their importance and influence in the development of our sport,” Julfalakyan stated.
He expressed special gratitude to UWW President Nenad Lalović, Bureau members, and national federations for their support. Julfalakyan also urged athletes to become more actively involved in the work of the commission to strengthen the influence of the wrestling movement.
