Armenia national team goalkeeper Arsen Beglaryan reacted with humor to the outstanding performance of Gandzasar goalkeeper Anatoly Ayvazov, who saved two penalties in his team's Armenian Premier League Matchday 6 clash against Noah.
“He saved as many penalties in 14 minutes as I did in 14 years,” Beglaryan wrote while commenting on his colleague’s performance.
With the score tied at 2-2 in the second half, Ayvazov first denied Elder Ferreira from the penalty spot before stopping another spot kick taken by Gor Manvelyan. Despite their goalkeeper's heroics, Gandzasar could not hold on for a draw, as Manvelyan scored the winning goal from open play in the 98th minute to give Noah a dramatic 3-2 victory.
According to Transfermarkt, Beglaryan has saved three penalties during his professional career. One came while playing for the Armenia national team against Denmark, when he denied Christian Eriksen from the spot. The other two were recorded during his time with Krasnodar's youth team.
Before facing Noah, Ayvazov had also saved two penalties in his career: one against Vardan Poghosyan in 2017 and another against Hovhannes Harutyunyan in 2024. As a result, he doubled his career tally of penalty saves in a single match.
