Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg) successfully navigated the repechage round and earned the right to compete for a bronze medal at the European Freestyle Wrestling Championships.
Yesterday, in the quarterfinals, Tevanyan lost to Russian wrestler Ibragim Ibragimov with a score of 2:3. Since Ibragimov advanced to the final, the Armenian athlete continued his journey in the repechage bracket.
Today, Tevanyan confidently defeated Polish wrestler Krzysztof Bienkowski 3:0, securing his place in the bronze medal match.
Tonight, starting at 20:00 Yerevan time, Vazgen Tevanyan will face 19-year-old Georgian wrestler Goga Otinashvili in the bout for the bronze medal.
Also today, Manvel Khndzrtsyan (57 kg) and Gurgen Simonyan (97 kg) competed in the repechage rounds, but both suffered defeats and ended their tournament run.
Meanwhile, Arsen Harutyunyan (61 kg) had a successful start to the championship, dominating Bulgarian wrestler Stilian Iliev with an 11:0 victory. He is now preparing for the quarterfinals.
