On October 30, in the Albanian city of Durrës, the 2025 European Youth and U23 Weightlifting Championships will continue. In the 71 kg weight category, Armenia will be represented by three athletes.

In the junior tournament, Tigran Karapetyan and Narek Grigoryan will take the platform. Their competition starts at 15:00 local time (18:00 Yerevan time). Both Armenian lifters have registered a total of 310 kg — one of the highest in the category. Their main rivals will come from Turkey, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, and other countries.

Later, at 17:00 (20:00 Yerevan time), Gor Sahakyan will compete for medals in the U23 event. He has entered with 330 kg — the highest declared total in his group. His main opponent will again be Turkish lifter Yusuf Genç, whom Sahakyan faced at the 2025 European Senior Championships. Back then, Genç won gold in the 73 kg category with 348 kg, while Sahakyan took silver with 338 kg.

The Armenian team already has two “big golds” at the tournament, and that number may soon increase.

Live streaming of the competitions is available on the EWFSPORT YouTube channel.
