Armenian sambo athletes win four medals on final day of Youth World Championships

Armenia added four more medals on the final day of the World Sambo Championships for cadets, youth and juniors, held in Thessaloniki.

On October 4, Arman Parsiyants won the silver medal in the U16 sport sambo 53 kg category.

Three more Armenian athletes reached the podium with bronze medals. Arman Yeganyan (58 kg), Gor Antonyan (88 kg) and Hovhannes Avagyan (over 88 kg) all finished third.

After three days of competition, Armenia completed the World Championships with 13 medals — three silver and ten bronze.

Earlier, in the U20 sport sambo competition, Alex Khachatryan (58 kg), Mher Ohanyan (71 kg) and Seyran Sarukhanyan (88 kg) had won bronze medals. In combat sambo, Gagik Grigoryan (58 kg), Mikael Tumasyan (64 kg) and Vigen Avagyan (71 kg) also claimed bronze.

In the U18 competition, Narek Simonyan (58 kg) and Hakob Umrshadyan (64 kg) won silver medals, while Gor Shatveryan (71 kg) took bronze.

Russia topped the overall medal table with 33 gold, 11 silver and seven bronze medals. Mongolia won four gold medals, while Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan claimed three each.

Armenia finished 13th in the overall medal standings, ending the tournament with 13 medals — three silver and ten bronze.
