Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers have started preparations for the new competitive season. The first training camp of the national team will begin on January 10 at the Tsaghkadzor Olympic Sports Complex.
A total of 36 athletes have been invited to the camp. According to the head coach of the Armenian national team, Honored Coach of Armenia Armen Babalaryan, the main focus at this stage will be on improving overall physical conditioning. The two-week training camp in Tsaghkadzor will serve as a foundation for further preparations, which will later continue in Yerevan.
As reported by the Armenian Olympic Committee, the season for Armenian Greco-Roman wrestlers will start with an international tournament in Tallinn, scheduled for February 5. Babalaryan noted that an expanded squad will travel to Estonia in order to assess the readiness of young wrestlers alongside experienced athletes.
“After returning, we will continue our preparations and plan to take part in one or two more international tournaments. Our goal is to be in good condition for the Under-23 European Championship, which starts on March 9 in Zrenjanin, Serbia, and then for the Senior European Championship in Tirana,” the head coach stated.
