The Armenian national boxing team will take part for the first time in a tournament held under the auspices of the new international organization World Boxing. This refers to the youth tournament World Boxing Future Cup U19, which will be held in Thailand from March 8 to 15.
This was announced by Karen Aghamalyan, head coach of Armenia’s youth national team, through the official social media accounts of the Boxing Federation of Armenia.
The World Boxing Future Cup U19 serves as a qualification stage for the 2026 Youth Olympic Games, which will take place in November in Dakar, Senegal. A total of 10 weight categories will be contested, but the Armenian team will compete in only 5 of them — those included in the Olympic program. At the same time, Armenia plans to compete with a full squad at the U19 Youth World Championship.
It should be recalled that Armenia joined World Boxing at the end of 2025. The tournament in Thailand will be the first competition under the new organization for Armenian boxers. Previously, Armenia was only a member of the International Boxing Association (IBA), but Olympic qualification tournaments are now held by World Boxing.
