Starting in 2025, chess player Anna Sargsyan (born 2001) will represent the USA in international tournaments. By doing so, she follows in the footsteps of her famous compatriot Levon Aronian, who also switched to the U.S. national team.

Career in the Armenian National Team

Anna Sargsyan successfully competed for Armenia in European and World Championships, earning the title of Grandmaster in 2020. As of April 2025, her FIDE rating stands at 2354. In 2024, she won an individual bronze medal at the 45th Chess Olympiad in Budapest.

Move to the USA and Federation Change

In recent years, Sargsyan has been living in the USA, where she continues her chess career. She is currently preparing for the national championship as part of Webster University's team. She will then participate in Pan-American tournaments as a member of the U.S. national team.
