Armenia and Georgia to Compete for the Unibank Cup Trophy in Yerevan

Today, December 24, the final match of the international futsal tournament Unibank Cup will take place in Yerevan. In the decisive game for first place, the national teams of Armenia and Georgia will face each other.
The match will kick off at 8:00 PM Yerevan time and will be held at the FFA Technical Center / Avan Football Academy. The game will be played behind closed doors with no broadcast; however, fans will be able to attend as entry to the arena will be free.
What You Need to Know About Armenia’s Opponent
The Georgian national futsal team is one of the strongest opponents on the international stage:

Georgia ranks 15th in the FIFA futsal rankings, placing them among the world’s top national teams (Armenia is ranked 23rd).

In 2022, Georgia reached the final stage of the European Championship for the first time in its history and immediately advanced to the playoffs. In the quarterfinals, they narrowly lost 1–3 to the future finalists, the Russian national team.

Over the past four years, Armenia and Georgia have played four head-to-head matches: Georgia won three times, while Armenia claimed one victory. All matches were closely contested. The most recent encounter ended with a home win for Armenia, 3–1.

One of Georgia’s key players is Giorgi Gavtadze, a versatile player for Russian club Tyumen, where he also plays alongside Armenia national team forward Denis Nevedrov.
It should be noted that the Unibank Cup match is an important stage of preparation for both teams ahead of the UEFA Futsal Euro 2026, which will be held in Latvia, Lithuania, and Slovenia from January 21 to February 7.
