Arman Tsarukyan has officially received an important role at the historic UFC event at the White House. The Armenian fighter will serve as the backup participant for the evening’s main event between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje.
UFC president Dana White had previously reported this, and the information has now been confirmed by the promotion’s official accounts. If Topuria or Gaethje is unable to compete due to injury or other reasons, Tsarukyan will step in.
The main event of the UFC White House card is expected to take place in the lightweight division. For Tsarukyan, backup fighter status could become a chance to return to the title race and, under certain circumstances, immediately receive one of the biggest fights of his career.
Speaking about Arman’s next fight, Dana White confirmed that the UFC is counting on him as the reserve participant for the main event.
“Are you asking about Arman’s next fight? Arman is the backup fighter for the White House event. So if something happens, he will be the one to take that fight. Arman will be there. He is good at marketing, you know. His journey and everything he has gone through are really impressive. He needs to go out there and make people want to see it,” Dana White said.
Tsarukyan remains one of the leading contenders in the UFC lightweight division. His possible participation in the White House event adds extra intrigue to the main event, as the Armenian fighter has long been seeking a championship opportunity.
The UFC event at the White House is scheduled for June 14, with Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje expected to headline the card.
