Reigning European champion Arman Andreasyan (70 kg) has reached the final of the 2025 European Freestyle Wrestling Championship, currently taking place in Bratislava, Slovakia.
In the semifinal, the 25-year-old Armenian wrestler defeated Georgia’s Akaki Kemertelidze with a score of 3-1, making it to the European Championship final for the second year in a row. This is Andreasyan’s third victory over Kemertelidze. He previously beat the 26-year-old Georgian in last year’s European final (7-3) and in the 2024 Ranking Series semifinal in Hungary (7-6).
In the final, Andreasyan will face a tough opponent — David Baev from Russia. The 27-year-old Ossetian was the world champion in 2019 but had few appearances on the Russian national team afterward. However, in 2025 he won the Ivan Yarygin tournament and returned to the squad. At the start of the European Championship in Bratislava, Baev defeated world champion Ismail Musukaev 10-0, then beat Serbia’s Viktor Vojnovic with the same score, and in the semifinal, overcame Azerbaijan’s Kenan Kheibatov 3-0.

In addition, tomorrow, three Armenian wrestlers will compete in the repechage for a chance to fight for bronze: Manvel Khndzrtsyan (57 kg), Vazgen Tevanyan (65 kg), and Gurgen Simonyan (97 kg).
The finals will take place tomorrow, April 8, at 20:00 Yerevan time.
