Ararat-Armenia to face Shamrock Rovers in Champions League second qualifying round

Ararat-Armenia have learned their opponents in the second qualifying round of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League. The Armenian champions will face Irish club Shamrock Rovers.
The Irish side suffered a surprising 2-0 away defeat to Floriana in the first leg in Malta. However, Shamrock Rovers produced an impressive comeback in the return match in Dublin, winning 5-1 and advancing to the next round with a 5-3 aggregate victory.
Trevor McGovern scored twice for the winners, while Rory Grace, Graham Burke and Jack Byrne also found the net. Andrija Gudelj scored Floriana’s only goal.
The Champions League second qualifying round will therefore feature the following tie:
Shamrock Rovers (Ireland) — Ararat-Armenia (Armenia).
Ararat-Armenia reached the second qualifying round after eliminating Latvian club Riga. The Armenian champions won the home leg 2-0 before losing the return match 3-2. Manuel Tulipa’s team progressed with a 4-3 aggregate victory and continued their campaign in Europe’s leading club competition.
