One of Armenia’s most decorated female boxers — European champion and multiple continental medalist Ani Hovsepyan — has announced her transition to professional boxing. The athlete signed a contract with the European promotional company Grand Boxing Management, represented by manager Khachik Khachaturyan.
“I received an offer I considered worthy. I hope it will help me reach a new level and allow me to participate in more serious bouts. The contract is European in scale, and I’m determined to make the most of this opportunity,” Hovsepyan told Armenpress.
According to the boxer, one of the main reasons behind her decision was the limited number of amateur competitions and her desire to pursue more ambitious goals. At the same time, Ani does not rule out future participation in major amateur tournaments.
“This doesn’t mean I’m completely leaving amateur boxing. I might still take part in World and European Championships in the future. But right now, I believe it’s the right time to step into the professional ring,” she explained.
Hovsepyan emphasized that, as a professional, she will continue to fight for the glory of Armenia and will do her best to raise her country’s prestige on the international stage.
Ani Hovsepyan’s professional debut is scheduled for October in Yerevan. The name of her opponent and the exact date of the fight will be announced later.
