Andranik thrash Echmiadzin to reach Armenian Cup round of 16

Armenian First League side Andranik comfortably advanced from the preliminary round of the Armenian Cup after claiming a 5-0 victory over amateur team Echmiadzin.

The match was played at the City Stadium in Charentsavan. Mauro Benedito Dos Santos Neto opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute.

Hovsep Hakobyan was the standout performer of the first half, completing a hat-trick in the space of ten minutes with goals in the 29th, 32nd and 39th minutes.

Vahe Zakaryan completed the rout in stoppage time, scoring Andranik’s fifth goal in the 90+3rd minute.

The victory secured Andranik a place in the Armenian Cup round of 16. Avshar Ararat had also previously booked their spot in the same stage of the competition.

It is worth recalling that Andranik were one of the surprise packages of last season’s Armenian Cup, unexpectedly reaching the semifinals.
