Alen Zurabyan wins silver at the U17 World Weightlifting Championships

Armenian weightlifter Alen Zurabyan won a silver medal at the U17 World Weightlifting Championships held in Cali, Colombia.
Competing in the 94 kg weight category, Zurabyan recorded a total of 317 kg. The Armenian representative lifted 137 kg in the snatch to finish fourth and completed a 180 kg clean and jerk, earning a small silver medal in the event.
Iraqi weightlifter Musa Kaiti became the world champion with a total of 332 kg. Georgia’s Tamazi Megrelishvili claimed the bronze medal with a result of 312 kg.

Armenia was represented by two athletes at the World Championships. Earlier, Harutyun Avetisyan finished fifth in the 79 kg weight category.
Georgia topped the overall medal table with two gold, one silver and two bronze medals.
China, Iran, North Korea, South Korea and Uzbekistan did not participate in the World Championships.
