Alexis Ohanian Buys Stake in Chelsea Women’s Club

Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian has acquired around 10% of Chelsea’s women’s team by investing £20 million into the club. The 42-year-old Armenian entrepreneur and husband of tennis star Serena Williams will join the board of directors of the London club.
Ohanian already has experience investing in women’s sports—he was previously the largest shareholder in the American club Angel City FC, which was sold in 2024 for a record sum. He now aims to strengthen Chelsea’s position not only in England but also in the U.S. market.
The deal values the women’s team at £200 million and coincides with another wave of success for the club—Chelsea has won the Women’s Super League for the sixth consecutive time and is preparing for the FA Cup final.
