Armenian tennis is gradually gaining a new name on the international stage. Alexandra Korneeva is only 17 years old, yet over the past two years she has already become a two-time Champion of Armenia (2023–2024), established herself as one of the country’s most promising young athletes, and begun a rapid rise in the ITF World Junior Rankings.

Since August 2025, Alexandra has been living and training in the United States, in Florida, a region long considered one of the world’s major tennis centers. Leading academies, top coaches, strength and conditioning specialists, and a large number of professional players from around the world are based there. Entering such an environment became a crucial stage in Sasha’s career.
Today, under the leadership of head coach Santiago Haas, Alexandra is supported by a full professional team that includes tennis coaches, strength and conditioning specialists, and physiotherapists. The results of this systematic work became visible very quickly. In just eight months, Alexandra climbed from approximately No. 1300 to the Top 400 of the ITF World Junior Rankings.
The 2025–2026 tournament season became a true breakthrough for the Armenian athlete.
One of her first major achievements was winning the J30 tournament in Costa Rica, where Alexandra claimed the championship trophy. This was followed by a successful trip to Jamaica, where she won both the singles and doubles titles at J30 events.

The next important stage included higher-level tournaments: two J60 events in the Dominican Republic, followed by a series of tournaments in Peru. The South American stretch of the season has become one of the most successful periods of her career so far.
At the J60 tournament in Lima, Alexandra reached the singles final, losing only in the decisive match. Just one week later, she once again advanced to the final at the J100 Lima tournament, one of the more prestigious events on the ITF junior circuit, earning another silver medal in singles.

Particular attention is also drawn to the unusual geography of Alexandra’s tournament schedule for an athlete representing Armenia. South and Central America remain relatively uncommon destinations for tennis players from the Caucasus region, so the Armenian flag at tournaments in Peru, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, or Jamaica naturally attracts genuine interest from local audiences.
For Alexandra herself, this has also become an opportunity to speak about the country she represents. Beyond tennis, Sasha has a strong interest in politics and international relations, which often turns participation in these tournaments into a form of cultural diplomacy. According to people around her, she is regularly asked where Armenia is located, speaks about the country’s history, and with a smile reminds people that Armenians have contributed to many important global inventions and cultural achievements.
In April 2026, Alexandra signed an equipment sponsorship contract with Wilson, one of the world’s most recognized tennis brands. This became an important confirmation that her progress is being noticed not only by coaches and specialists, but also by major players in the global tennis industry.
Today, Alexandra Korneeva continues her season, combining an intensive training process in Florida with a demanding international tournament schedule. And although there is still a long road ahead, one thing is already clear: the Armenian flag is appearing more and more often in the later stages of international tennis tournaments thanks to a new generation of young athletes, one of whose brightest representatives is Alexandra Korneeva.
